geodesic dome, built 1959, is situated just off Ohio Route 87,
approximately 25 miles east of Cleveland in the rural landscape of
Russell Township, Ohio.
The ASM headquarters

Renovation Plans
The
plan is to perform a
complete historic
restoration of the
headquarters
building in
compliance with the
Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation
of historic
buildings. This rehabilitation
will be the first
Modern Historic
building to be part
of the State and
Federal Tax credit
program.
The rehabilitation
work will address
the restoration and
repair of
non-traditional
building techniques
and materials such
as various metals
and glass. The
renovation
contemplates
interior and
exterior
improvements
including but not
limited to updated
mechanical,
electrical and
plumbing, ADA
compliant restrooms
and egress, window
restoration,
restoration of the
unique, giant,
exterior stainless
steel sunscreen,
repair of the
structural elements
such as the steel
columns and concrete
repairs.
Renovation will start in April 2010 with an estimated completion of Summer 2011.
The design team includes:
TCG,
Dimit Architects,
and
Timothy J. Norris & Associates.
Occupants
With the planned restoration, ASM International will continue its
occupancy at the building. Additionally,
leasable commercial space will be created.
Founded in 1913, ASM is “Everything Material”: a society whose mission is to
gather and disseminate information and expertise on engineered materials.
